Why are you running for School Board? I am running for office to continue the upward trajectory of the district and to build an infrastructure that dismantles the inequity in our district, so all students can be successful.

Why should Mission residents vote for you? Mission residents should vote for me because I have the most on-the-ground experience of any candidate. I have been a PTA president for 12 terms and have served on 11 school site councils. I am a fourth generation Chinese American San Franciscan and four generations of my family have attended San Francisco’s public schools. Before I was elected to the Board, I worked eight years at Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth as the Director of Parent Organizing and Education Policy. I presented workshops to thousands of parents on parent rights in the schools and trained hundreds of parents to be parent advocates for their children and all children. While I have been on the school board, I authored resolutions to have restorative practices in our discipline procedures, institute ethnic studies restorative practices in our discipline procedures, institute ethnic studies classes in our high schools, re-commit to the anti-discrimination of our LGBTQQ youth and create a district-wide parent engagement plan.
