Why are you running for School Board? I believe I can make a positive difference in the lives of our students, families and communities. I believe that student, families and educators need someone on the Board of Education who knows and has experience within SFUSD to effectively move the district forward and hold them accountable to their promises. I am committed to service and it is a practice of my faith to do all I can to advocate and fight for those who are most vulnerable to the failures and shortcomings of our institutions. This is a continuation and expansion of the work I'm already doing.

Why should Mission residents vote for you? I am a bilingual educator, public school advocate and parent advocate for children on the bottom end of our achievement gap. I have two children in middle school and my youngest at Flynn Elementary – a historically low performing school with demographics that reflect the racial and socio-economic demographics of our district ... I am the only candidate who has been a public school parent for seven years in a low performing superintendent zone school. I serve as co-chair for SFUSD’s Bilingual Community Council. I have been teaching San Francisco children for more than 20 years. I will work towards policy that welcomes families and caregivers, is supportive of our educators, values the diversity of the Mission district, and supports the growth and sustainability of our work to provide a quality education for every child in San Francisco.
